Hearing Tests

Hearing Tests also know as Audiological Evaluation are used to test the hearing of older children and adults. This method requires the patient to press a response button or raise a hand when the test tone is heard. Test tones include a range of low frequency (pitch) and high frequency sounds representing the range of sounds included in speech. This testing determines the patient's thresholds, or the very softest point at which they can hear each of the different frequencies. In addition, speech discrimination testing is typically performed to evaluate the patient's ability to discriminate differences between similar sounds, such as the "f" sound and the "v" sound.
