Westone HATIS

Westone’s products also work in conjunction with HATIS. HATIS Corporation is a leader in the Assistive Communications Technology (ACT) market with its Hearing Aid Telephone Interconnect Systems (HATIS). HATIS' sound interconnection system enables individuals with moderate-to-profound hearing loss to hear conversations when using hearing aids and telephone handsets. HATIS customers experience greater resonance, little or no electromagnetic interference, longer hearing aid battery life, and lower stress. HATIS can be connected to cellular, cordless, and landline telephones along with the new Web-enabled, handheld computer PDA communications products.

HATIS' patented telecoil inductive coupler was developed in the late 1980s. As a child, the inventor of HATIS discovered a connection between magnetism and hearing aids while playing with a U-shaped magnet around her body-worn hearing aid. For the first time, she was able to hear everyday sounds. As an adult with deep hearing loss, she invested several years in the research, development, and patent processes of the HATIS coupling ear hook used with hearing aids. This new technology allowed the inventor to hear and speak on the telephone for the first time in her life.

HATIS Lite allows users with a mild hearing loss to use their T-coil equipped behind-the-ear hearing aids with a mobile phone. HATIS Producer is the hands-free mobile phone solution for wearers of ITE hearing instruments equipped with a T-coil.
